Jeff Lawson, is the founder and driving force behind LWF Services. A proud Midland native, Jeff graduated from Midland Lee High School in 2003 and began his career in the trades shortly before finishing school.
Jeff’s work ethic and passion for craftsmanship were evident early on. In 2002, he joined Electronic Data Devices as a shop hand, taking on tasks like deburring, cleaning, and packing parts for shipment. His dedication led to a promotion as a machinist apprentice, where he operated manual lathes and mills—laying the foundation for his future in fabrication.
In 2006, Jeff pivoted toward welding, contracting with Patterson Drilling in Midland, TX. There, he specialized in building choke manifold skids and accumulator skids in their BOP shop. He later joined CapStar Drilling, where he contributed to the construction of drilling rigs and provided field support.
By 2010, Jeff had rented a small shop and began taking on welding jobs independently, including build-up welding on BOPs while continuing to contract weld during the day. As demand grew, he made the leap to run his own shop full-time. What started as a one-man operation has grown into LWF Services—now employing over 50 team members and operating from a significantly expanded facility with multiple buildings.
Under Jeff’s leadership, LWF has evolved from a basic welding shop into a comprehensive service provider known for its versatility and technical expertise. Today, LWF includes:
-
Custom welding and fabrication
-
A full-service, job-shop-style machine shop
-
Fluid end repair services
-
Field service welding
-
Industrial driveshaft fabrication
These diversified offerings have helped distinguish LWF from competitors in the region.
Though his day-to-day responsibilities have shifted to running the business, Jeff remains passionate about hands-on work. In his free time, you’ll likely find him welding or fabricating personal projects—especially custom rock crawlers. This hobby allows him to combine precision craftsmanship with adventure, traveling across the U.S. to explore new trails with friends and family.
Jeff’s journey from shop hand to business owner is a testament to hard work, vision, and an unrelenting drive to build something better—both in metal and in business.
